Baltic Photonics 2026 brings together experts from the photonics ecosystem, semiconductor industry, research institutions, and high-tech companies to foster cross-sector collaboration and innovation. Over the years, the event has explored a wide range of photonics applications, including medicine, micromachining, optical communication, space technologies, and more.
In 2026, Baltic Photonics will focus on semiconductors—a rapidly evolving field that plays a critical role in global technological development. The event will highlight emerging innovations, advanced manufacturing technologies, and strategic opportunities at the intersection of photonics and the semiconductor industry. Discussions will explore topics such as photonic chips, semiconductor manufacturing technologies, supply chains, and the future of photonics-enabled electronics.
The event will take place over two days:
Day 1 – September 24, 2026:
International speakers will share insights into the latest research, industry trends, and technological advancements in photonics and semiconductors.
Day 2 – September 25, 2026:
Participants will take part in B2B matchmaking sessions, company visits, and networking opportunities, allowing them to build partnerships and explore collaboration possibilities within Lithuania’s photonics ecosystem. The event will conclude with a networking party.

Augustinas Lubys is the Head of Business Development & Marketing at Kongsberg NanoAvionics - a leading small satellite manufacturer providing satellite buses and mission services for commercial, academic, governmental and defense applications. Prior to joining the company, Augustinas worked in the photonics industry, focusing on laser technologies. Now having been with the company as a business developer for half of its lifespan Augustinas possesses extensive knowledge about space technology developments in the industry as well as a deep understanding of the existing ecosystems of emerging upstream and downstream players in EMEA & APAC markets
Romain Ladret Picioruș, PhD
Online: The place of Optronics and Space in EU Defence projects
Romain Ladret Piciorus is a Project Officer at the European Commission within the Directorate-General for Defence Industry and Space (DG DEFIS). He follows the implementation of several European Defence Fund (EDF) projects, and supports EDF’s calls’ preparation and proposals’ evaluation (specifically for sensors, space and disruptive technologies). He holds a PhD (THz sensors), and Master & Engineer diploma (generalist & optro-electronics focus). He has worked in the French Defence industry (private sector) for 5 years and joined the European Commission in 2019

Astrolight’s co-founder and CEO Laurynas Mačiulis has over a decade of experience in the space industry, driving the company’s mission to advance laser communication technologies for space and defense. Terahertz non-destructive testing: Applications in Aerospace and Aviation
Georg von Freymann is university professor for experimental physics at RPTU University Kaiserslautern-Landau, Germany, and head of the department for materials characterization and testing at the Fraunhofer institute of industrial mathematics (ITWM). He has cofounded two photonics companies. His research spans from fundamentals like photonic Bose-Einstein-Condensation, Quantum Simulation, and Quantum Sensing to industrial applications. At Fraunhofer ITWM optical technologies covering the spectral range from VIS to Terahertz are employed for non-destructive testing. Industrial applications range from automotive, aviation and pipe extrusion to security and aerospace industries.

Darius is a Coordinator at the Innovation Development Department of the Innovation Agency Lithuania, where he leads high-impact initiatives to strengthen Lithuania’s laser ecosystem. Previously, he held the role of Project Manager at Invest Lithuania through the Create Lithuania programme, where he led a strategic project focused on strengthening the national defence industry. With a strong focus on cross-sector collaboration, Darius is dedicated to positioning Lithuania as a key innovation hub for cutting-edge technologies
